Fragments of Wealth was a solo exhibition of prints and collages at Drawing Projects UK in Oct - Nov 2021.
The exhibition included work created during a 3-month residency in a large Victorian house in Clifton, Bristol HOUSE which focused on themes of loss, displacement and exile. The collagraphs were developed during the residency using imagery from Minton-style tiles, present in the entrance halls of the Clifton house, as a metaphor for the wealth of Bristol and its role in the transatlantic slave trade, and the shroud-like wave form is a prompt to reflect on the loss, displacement and exile. The collagraphs were shown alongside series of paper collages made during lockdown in 2020 and early 2021.
Drawing Projects UK is a centre for research, development, production and promotion of exhibitions, events and workshops in drawing and contemporary art, and which aims to promote, develop and build a community through drawing in a local, regional, national and international context.
